Arne Slot: ‘Some players stay in their comfort zone but Curtis Jones wants the challenge’

Arne Slot has praised Curtis Jones’ ability to learn new things and evolve as a footballer – eventually benefitting Liverpool.

“It is good to have versatile players in different positions, Curtis is definitely one of them,” explained the boss.

“It’s a skillset where he can defend and attack, if you give him a challenge, he likes to be challenges and yesterday [against Everton] was for him, it wasn’t his normal position.

“Some want to stay in their comfort zone but Curtis wants the challenge.

“If you tell him he is playing the best English midfielder he wants to rise to that challenge.

“Good to have him, now it’s up to him. If I play him Sunday, consistency is the thing that brings you from good to great so he has to show that if I play him Sunday.”
